Pac-Man and Galaga Dimensions Game Review

As opposed to packing the cartridge chock brimming with variations of Pac-Man and Galaga (including their respective sequels, like Pac-Mania and Galaga ’88 – always advantageous for any quick play), we have six games in every, and only 2/3 of that package will probably be worth anything.  Curiously, the losers with the bunch turn out to be the most recent variations of these long-lasting legacies.  Guess that’s what you’ll receive once you mess with a proven formula.

Case in point.  First of all, we have Pac-Man Tilt, a platformer where you guide Pac-Man by having a Sonic-like world, jumping around levels and staying away from dangers.  Hey, we now have no issue with ol’ Pac taking on a platformer.  His Pac-Man World games weren’t bad for time.  The thing is that this game requires you to use the 3DS’ gyroscopic sensors to acquire the most out of play.  Also, in case you’ve got the 3D slider fired up completely full, this makes it literally impossible to learn, as a result of ever-shifting 3D screen.  Even though you do manage to turn the slider off, you’re bound to a watered-down platformer that never lives around its potential.

Then there’s Galaga 3D Impact, and actually, that is likely the worst one in the series that people’ have played because the hosed up PS One revamp.  You fly across 3D stages, shooting at Galagas while often collecting power-ups while using the help of your tractor beam.  The visuals aren’t half bad, nevertheless the gameplay gets stale in a short time.  Within about 50 % an hour, you’re prone to lose interest.  No, scratch that.  You WILL get bored.  Namco would’ve been better off looking to add the 3D shooter style stages in the Namco Museum games on Wii.

Pac-Man and Galaga Dimensions Gameplay layout

Are you aware that four other games, they fare much better.  The 1st two are authentic arcade ports of the original Pac-Man and Galaga, full of respected arcade cabinet design.  They’re just a little confusing to start with due to way the cabinets are set up (for that long-form view), but after adjusting a little bit, you’ll find these classics are simply as exciting when they were in the 80’s.

The opposite two games fare far better.  Pac-Man Championship Version, which initially became available for Xbox Live Arcade so long ago, remains terrific.  You’ll race around with Pac-Man through timed stages, eating as much dots and ghosts as you can while adapting to various challenges.  Galaga Legions also makes its portable debut, with numerous variations of bugs to blast while looking to keep in one piece.  The 3D touches included with these games are very awesome, providing a whole new perspective at the time you played them formerly for download.  Too bad they’re not the DX editions, though.

Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions Review

Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions isn’t without worth, due to the four great games included here, but there are two points to consider.  Primary, the selling price is excessively high.  For $19.99, this could’ve been a good deal, but also for double that, just the hardcore arcade enthusiasts probably will consider adding it to their library.  Sorry to say, but this might’ve been some time for Namco introducing an allowance price or otherwise more games to balance the cost.

Another technical features are poor.  The action does feature leaderboard support about the Wi-Fi Connection, nevertheless it only saves your single top score for each game, and comparing it with friends has you jumping through more hoops than what was needed.  Also, the sport’s save product is tricky.  It is possible to’t delete default saves, however , you are able to do control button combination (holding A, B, X, Y, L and R as the game loads).  Again, a hurdle that wasn’t really important to hop over.

Had more games and also a lesser cost been considered, Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions would’ve been a great the main Nintendo 3DS line-up.  However, despite the presence of four years old classic games, it never meshes – along with the two cruddy, new games don’t help enough.  Go locate a copy of Namco Museum for the original Ds lite instead.  It’s a greater value.
